About Department of Textile Technology

The Department of Garments and Textile Technology at Nobojibon Polytechnic Institute has been thriving since its inception in 2012. With the later inclusion of Garment Design and Pattern Making Technology, this department has continued to grow, producing over 1000 Diploma graduates in Textile Engineering. It is headed by Md. Hasibur Rahman, who leads the department towards excellence in both academic and industry-oriented goals.

The department operates with four specialized areas under Textile Engineering:

Fabric Manufacturing
Yarn Manufacturing
Wet Processing
Apparel Manufacturing

The department has produced over 800 graduates who have pursued higher education both domestically and internationally, many of whom are now working in prominent positions in the garment and textile industries.

Job Prospects in Bangladesh

Graduates can explore numerous sectors, including the private textile industry with over 5000 textile factories in Bangladesh. Given that the textile sector contributes to over 80% of Bangladesh’s $40 billion export value, there is a significant demand for skilled professionals. Graduates may also opt for government roles, such as Assistant Director in the Department of Textiles (DOT) or even become instructors in technical and vocational institutions. Other opportunities include roles in Textile Cadre (proposed) or as lecturers at BUTex or private universities.
